MnDOT Names Recipients of 'Safe Routes to School' Grants

Students traveling to Minnesota schools are about to be a little bit safer thanks to the Safe Routes to School grants. The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced the 92 recipients of $768,000 in federal funding Wednesday.

Educators Honored During National Teacher Day

Today is National Teacher Day – a chance to recognize the importance of educators and thank the teachers who have made a difference in our lives.

Thousands of community members will be taking time today to honor Minnesota educators for their role in making sure every student receives a quality education.

UPDATE: West St. Paul Teacher's Missing Dog Found

We have a happy update to the search for a dog that went missing from a Garlough Environmental Magnet School teacher's home last week.

Melanie Parkinson tells us her rescue dog, Frankie, was found Friday night in downtown St. Paul. Frankie, a four-year-old fawn boxer went missing the evening of April 30th while Parkinson was out of town for a conference.

St. Paul Students Talk to Astronaut on International Space Station

Some local kids are getting a chance to make a call that’s out of this world.

Today, students at the Farnsworth Aerospace Magnet School will get to talk to an astronaut in space.

Students will use a ham radio connection to connect with astronaut Don Pettit aboard the International Space Station.

Minnesota Teacher of the Year to be Announced Sunday

Education Minnesota will be naming the new Minnesota Teacher of the Year this Sunday, May 6, at an annual banquet.

The announcement will come from Katy Smith, the current Minnesota Teacher of the Year. The banquet is at 1 p.m. at the Northland Inn in Brooklyn Park.
