John King Named Assistant Commissioner of Corrections

The Minnesota Department of Corrections has a new Assistant Commissioner of the Facilities Services Division.

John King was named to the position by Commissioner Tom Roy. King has worked in the Department of Corrections for 30 years and has experience at four facilities as well as the department’s central office.

Three Finalists Chosen for District 197 Superintendent

The District 197 School Board has narrowed its list of finalists for superintendent down to three candidates.  They include:

-Dr. Nancy Allen-Mastro, assistant superintendent, Bloomington Public Schools;
-Sharon Freeman, assistant superintendent, St. Paul Public Schools; and
-Dr. Jon Lamberson, Superintendent, Riverside Public Schools, Riverside, IL.

Missing Hugo Woman Found Safe in St. Paul

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said a missing Hugo woman has been found safe in St. Paul.

Fifty-nine-year-old Gayle Shirlene Newton was reportedly dropped off in downtown St. Paul by a taxi, but her family said she has no friends or acquaintances in that area. The sheriff’s office said the family has reason to believe Newton is paranoid and has an unknown emotional status.

Family Turns to Facebook to Help Find Missing St. Paul Man

A St. Paul family has turned to Facebook to help find a man who’s been missing since Valentine’s Day.

The family of 52-year-old David Wandtke says he left to go to the grocery store on Feb. 14 and never returned. They set up a Facebook page for him, calling it “Help find David W.”

T-Mobile USA Unveils New Global Design Retail Stores

T-Mobile USA, Inc. recently announced the rollout of a new global design for nearly 400 new and remodeled stores across the country. T-Mobile adopted the new design format from its parent company, Deutsche Telekom AG, which has received positive customer feedback for this new design in retail stores across Europe, according to a press release from T-Mobile USA, Inc.

Ortega Named Chair of Ramsey County Board

Rafael Ortega has been named chair of the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners. The decision came at the Jan. 3 organizational meeting.

Ortega represents Capitol Heights, Dayton’s Bluff, Downtown, highland, Macalester Groveland, Railroad Island, West Seventh, and the West Side in St. Paul. Ortega ha lived in Ramsey County District 5 for more than 30 years.

St. Paul Students Sing the Blues

The Rondo Education Center will showcase St. Paul students and artists during a unique collaboration entitled Jazz at Rondo.

Fifth graders from three schools housed in the Rondo Education Center are performing on Dec. 13 – 16 from 11:30-12:30 in the Musuem Magnet Exhibit Hall. The Capital Hill Jr.
