Attorney: No Charges Against Ramsey County Sheriff | News
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
A special city prosecuter for St. Paul has decided not to bring misdemeanor charges against Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher for allegedly violating the state's Data Practices Act.
In a statement released Monday, Thomas Lehmann, an attorney with the law firm Lehmann & Lutter, P.A., said there was not enough evidence to show Fletcher had willfully violated the statute by accessing and releasing private data on individuals who had applied for conceal and carry permits. The data was used to send out a letter inviting permit holders to a charity shooting event organized by the sheriff's office.
Lehmann reviewed the case after the St. Paul Attorney's Office declined to investigate due to its working relationship with the sheriff's office.
