Ramsey County Mobile Collection Truck Comes to Arden Hills

Ramsey County residents can get rid of household hazardous waste in Arden Hills this May.

Items accepted include paint, motor oil, batteries, fluorescent lights, and other products that shouldn’t be thrown in the regular trash.

American Lung Association Rates the Air Quality in Your County

Ramsey County earned an  F for air quality. The new American Lung Association report grades counties based on air particle pollution. Ramsey got an F for the first time, down from a B in 2009.

Anoka Hazardous Waste Facility Switches to Summer Hours

The warm weather is bringing a change to the Anoka County Household Hazardous Waste Facility.

New hours will take effect April 1 through Oct. 31. The facility will now be open from 2-8 p.m. Wednesdays; from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays; and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. It will be closed Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Ramsey County Opens Yard Waste Sites Early

Due to our unseasonably warm weather, Ramsey County will open its seven yard waste sites one week early.

Next Monday, all sites will accept leaves, grass and non-woody plants. Only Arden Hills, Frank and Sims, Midway, and White Bear Township accept trees and shrubs, but no stumps.

Ramsey County Conducts Controlled Burns of Prairies, Woodlands

Beginning this week, Ramsey County residents may see some controlled burns taking place in their cities.

The burns will be in various prairies and woodlands from now until May. According to a statement from the county, the fires are used to improve the growth of native vegetation, which includes shrubs, grasses and wildflowers. The burns are also used to control weeds.
