Friends of Ramsey County Libraries Hosts BookIt 5K

The Friends of Ramsey County Libraries organization is hosting a BookIt 5K Walk/Run to benefit the 2012 Summer Reading Program.

The reading program is offered at the libraries in Roseville, Maplewood, Shoreview, Mounds View, New Brighton, North St. Paul, and White Bear Lake and will directly benefit from the fundraiser.

Volunteers Needed to Clean Up Ramsey County Care Center Gardens

Community volunteers are invited help clean up the Ramsey County Care Center Gardens this weekend.

The clean-up day is hosted Saturday, May 12, and two shifts will be available – 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Work includes digging, raking, pruning, and other landscaping tasks.

Disabled American Veterans Van Helps St. Paul Vets

There will be help for disabled veterans in St. Paul today.

The Disabled American Veterans Van will be offering benefits counseling today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be parked at the Holiday Inn East in St. Paul.

Veterans can learn about the different benefits and services available to them, and it’s free.

Students and staffers at Garlough Environmental Magnet School in West St. Paul are trying to help their teacher find a rescue dog who ran away from home Monday.

'Out of Darkness' Walk Promotes Sexual Assault Awareness

To honor survivors of sexual violence, Ramsey County is partnering with a local task force to host the “Out of Darkness, Into Light” walk.

The county is teaming up with the Hamline University Sexual Violence Prevention Task Force as part of the national “Sexual Assault Awareness month” this April.
